How You Can Impact Your Community During Isolation

Stuck inside and feeling a little bit sad about it? Well, don’t worry! We can turn that frown upside down. We got a couple of tips on how you can improve your community in this period of isolation...and you are probably going to have a whole load of fun doing it!

Now, first things first, perhaps the one thing that you will do that has the biggest impact on your community is to ACTUALLY practice your social isolation. No ifs or buts about it. If you stay inside, the slower the disease will spread, and the quicker everybody can get outside and start to socialize with one another. So, if you really do not feel like listening to the other tip on this page, then I absolutely beg of you to stay seated in your sit (you can walk around a little bit, of course) and just stay there. Don’t go outside for anything more than essentials. Seriously. People’s lives really do depend upon this.

If you want to make a different impact on your community, then you can consider volunteering. Scores and scores of apps and Facebook groups have popped up sharing information with volunteers. You probably won’t be doing anything too exhilarating, but heading out and collecting groceries and medication for the most ‘at risk’ groups could really, really help. If you don’t want to do that, but live in a communal area, then something as simple as cleaning the communal areas is probably going to work absolute wonders when it comes to keeping everybody nice and healthy. I am sure that you could think of a couple of ideas that would have an impact on the community.

For example;if you have a skill that could be useful to people (e.g. sewing), then you could look into creating equipment like masks that can be handed out to people. A lot of doctors and nurses would love a good mask too as they are sorely lacking protective equipment right now. If you don’t know how to make masks, then you will be pleased to know that there is a ton of information online. The CDC even has a few guides to making some masks. Just make sure you wash them before handing them out!

Remember; the impact you have now will have a massive bearing on how this virus turns out. Make sure you make the right decisions.
